EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATONS
DRAINAGE
Properly adjust the slope of earth, concrete, driveway/s, asphalt, etc. at all sides of the structure. With soils, provide a minimum drop of 1/2" for every foot away from the foundation to a point 10' away from the foundation or to the lot line, whichever is less (WI DSPS 321.12). Concrete, asphalt, etc.: ¼” per foot. Correct and maintain these conditions to help minimize the risk and consequences of hydrostatic pressure against foundation walls. Improper drainage and poorly maintained mortar joints will lead to seepage and structural problems

I am a licensed UDC Construction inspector qualified beyond basic basement inspections.
Basement cracking or seepage discovered? You can trust that our Anderson Foundation Inspection service evaluates issues per the WAFRP standards which has been adopted by the UBC (Uniform Building Code). I am more qualified than a Home Inspector, less than a Structural Engineer (SE), who can perform Site-Specific Engineering. If you aren’t sure if you need a SE's report, contact our office to help you understand the difference and determine which is the best choice for you. Most older basements don’t need a SE’s report, but some do. A SE will do what I do, then determine if your needs require site-specific engineering to achieve a stabile basement. Call to see if our service would be the best place for you to start. We’ll never over-sell you on services you need.
